Radcliff Announces for BCC
Barbara Radcliff (D) is running for the Gulf County Commission District 5 seat being vacated by Jerry Barnes.
Barbara was born in Chipley. She and her husband Charles moved to Gulf County in 2005. They visited Gulf County while on vacation, never dreaming this would become their home. They were immediately struck by the old Florida charm and within two days decided this was where they wanted to live. They have never looked back-this is home for the Radcliffs.
Barbara is a fundraising volunteer for St. Joseph Bay Humane Society. She also assists Jerry Stokoe, former Executive Director of the Gulf County Senior Citizens Center, in his continuing effort to address the needs of the county's low income and senior citizens. In addition, she is an active participant on several committees at her church.
Although this is Barbara's first venture into the political arena, she has 25 years successful business experience in the private sector. She has an extensive understanding of human resources, budgets, payroll, inventory control and marketing. As a result, she feels qualified in meeting the county's needs for a more business-like approach in managing the taxpayer's money.
"I offer fresh, independent and common sense thinking to the challenges facing our community. As a frequent attendee of commission meetings, I am aware that such critical issues as responsible spending, reduction of taxes, affordable housing, infrastructure needs and county-wide voting must be addressed. It is also imperative that we step up our efforts to encourage responsible economic growth in Gulf County. Without planning for the future, our young people will have no reason to stay in our community after high school or to return after college. These are among the issues that I plant to address as your county commissioner. I want to hear about the issues that matter to you.
"I will work diligently to serve District 5, keeping in mind the best interest of the entire county. I will also strive to rebuild trust between the citizens of Gulf County and county government."
