Tyus Earns Medallion of Excellence

Tyla Tyus was one of only 45 high school seniors in both Volusia and Flagler counties to receive the Medallion of Excellence Award. The prestigious award - sponsored by the Daytona Beach News-Journal - is given to select students from area high schools in Volusia and Flagler counties for their outstanding academic and extracurricular achievements. Tyla will graduate this May from T. Dewitt Taylor Middle-High School in Pierson with high honors, ranking third in her class. Her parents are Max and Regina Tyus of Pierson and grandparents Kenneth and Agnes Ellis of Port St. Joe.
