Alsey P. (Al) Aston Obituary

Mr. Alsey P. (AL) Aston, 83, of Port St. Joe and formally of Eastpoint, entered his heavenly home Oct. 10 at The Bridge at Bay St. Joe in Port St. Joe. He was born Oct. 13, 1925 in Slick, OK. He was in Special Services during World War II. After 21 years of service with Western Greyhound he and Farris retired to live in northwest Arkansas, where Al enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later they moved to Eastpoint where Al found a new hobby of wood working, until limited by health issues, enjoyed helping others. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Port St. Joe, Greyhound Retirees Club and former member of the Eastpoint Lions Club and the Eastpoint Volunteer Fire Department.

Al was preceded in death by his parents James and Edna Aston; brother, James Aston; sisters, Elizabeth Davis and Mable Shamas; and a daughter Mary Ferguson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Farris Aston of Port St. Joe; son James R. Aston and his wife Joan and family of Klamath, OR; four daughters, Eve Toedtli and her husband, Howard and family of Commerce City, CO, Sharon Contreras and family of Stockton, CA, Theresa Aston and family of Jackson, CA and Linda Hert and family of Guerneville, CA; stepdaughter Janice Mason and her husband Steve and family of Antioch, CA; stepson Bill Carter and his wife Dianne and family of Panama City; sister Evelyn Ballard and family of Ardmore, OK; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Nov. 1 at 3 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church in Port St. Joe, located at 508 Sixteenth Street, with Rev. Ruth Hempel, Rev. Reid Cameron and Rev. Joe Eckstine officiating.

A special thanks to Covenant Hospice and the staff at The Bridge at Bay St. Joe for making his final time on Earth as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, 508 Sixteenth Street, Port St. Joe, FL 32456, or Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
