On Jan. 2, Sgt. Jerome Williams served a warrant for Violation of Probation on Ellery Levi Dobbins. A citizen provided Sgt. Williams with information which aided in the arrest. Dobbins was arrested after a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle he was driving with an expired tag on County Road 386. He is on probation for Battery and Petit Theft.
On Jan. 2, Deputy George Desrosier arrested Dixie Lee McDaniel, of Wewahitchka, on outstanding warrants out of Bay County. An arrest order for Fleeing and Eluding a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Cocaine, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia was served on McDaniel at his residence.
On Jan. 3, Deputy Paul Williams was on patrol in the area of US Highway 98 and Avenue D, in Port St. Joe. He observed a suspicious person at the Dollar General Market, who he made contact with. Once contact was made with the subject, Sean Franklin Porras, he was asked by Deputy Williams if he had any illegal or dangerous items on him. As Porras responded to the question, he reached in his pocket and grabbed a small plastic bag that contained marijuana while he told Deputy Williams all he had had was a little bag of weed. After a search was conducted, another bag containing marijuana and two pipes used to smoke marijuana was found. Porras was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Less than Twenty Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Jan. 4, Deputy Oquendo conducted a traffic stop on State Road 22 west of Wewahitchka. Before the driver stopped the vehicle, Deputy Oquendo noticed a plastic bag come out the driver’s side window. Once contact was made with the driver, Jeffery Allen Outlaw, a small green leafy substance scattered about his clothing was discovered. Deputy Paul Williams located the bag discarded by the driver and found marijuana and pills inside it. One of the pills was identified as a controlled substance. Outlaw was arrested and charged with Possession of Less than Twenty Grams of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Tampering with Evidence.
On Jan. 5, at approximately 12:19 a.m. the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding subjects walking around a home on Vann Drive with flashlights. Once deputies arrived, they observed a vehicle parked behind the residence and heard someone running in the brush behind the home. It appeared someone was removing chain-link fencing from the property. The Gulf Correctional Institution K-9 Unit was contacted and arrived to assist. The K-9 Unit located Ronnie David Farris lying in the brush near the residence. Farris was arrested and charged with Grand Theft and Trespassing.
On Jan. 5, Sgt. Richard Burkett and Reserve Deputy Patrick Beuligmann conducted a traffic stop on a truck after clocking its speed at 92 mph in a posted 60 mph zone. The stop was conducted near the Whitfield Hill area on State Road 71. As contact was made with the driver, Justin M. Hoyt, Sgt. Burkett could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Deputy Joel Oquendo arrived with K-9 Marco to assist. When asked, Hoyt admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle was conducted, Hoyt was arrested and charged with Possession of Less than Twenty Grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Jan. 7, Deputy Ken Starnes served an arrest warrant on Brandon Lee Burkett for Violation of Community Control in the 200 block of West Creekview Drive, in the Stone Mill Creek area. Burkett is on Community Control for two counts of Grand Theft.
On Jan. 9, Deputy Joel Oquendo observed a vehicle speeding in the area of Jehu Road and State Road 71, in Wewahitchka. After contacting the occupants, Deputy Oquendo believed the vehicle contained illegal narcotics. K-9 Marco was deployed and alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle. A search yielded a container that contained a powdery substance which tested positive for Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia known to be used to ingest meth. The driver, Mathison Jordan Dozier, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On Jan. 9, Deputy Paul Williams served an arrest order on Anthony Tillery. Tillery was arrested in the 6700 block of Alabama Avenue, in St. Joe Beach. An arrest order was issued for Tillery for contempt of court on his original charge of No Valid Driver’s License.
On Jan. 11, Deputy Ken Starnes served an arrest order on Warren Mitchell Bowers in the 100 block of Gone Fishing Street, in Wewahitchka. An arrest order was issued for Bowers for contempt of court on his original charge of grand theft and petit theft.
