Gulf County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Summary

On Feb. 13, the GCSO received a complaint regarding credit card fraud. Deputy C. Bailey responded to the complaint. The victim discovered numerous transactions on her debit card that was not authorized. It was determined the transactions occurred outside of Gulf County. The GCSO continues to investigate.

On Feb. 13, the GCSO received a complaint regarding the theft of jewelry in the 200 block of Willow Street in St. Joe Beach. Through further investigation Investigator L. Dickey developed James A. Turman (19) as the suspect and filed criminal charges for Grand Theft and False Representation of Ownership. The property was recovered. Turman is wanted by the GCSO on this case and another warrant for Burglary. On Feb. 13, the GCSO responded to the 400 block of Gulf Aire Drive in St. Joe Beach regarding a stolen vehicle. Deputy J. Brock responded to the call. Curtis W. Butrick (51) was identified as the suspect in the theft. During the investigation it was learned the victims debit card was missing and that a domestic battery had occurred. Approximately two hours after the call was received, Sgt. J. Williams and Deputy Brock observed the vehicle traveling on US Highway 98. Butrick was driving the vehicle. He was arrested and charged with Domestic Battery, Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Theft and Failure to Register as a Convicted Felon.

On Friday, Feb. 14, Deputy G. Desrosier conducted a traffic stop at Richards Avenue and Water Drive in Wewahitchka. The vehicle had an expired tag. The driver, Curt L. Johnson (30), was arrested for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked. He was also wanted out of Bay County on three warrants for Failure to Appear. He was transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility.

On Feb. 14, the GCSO received a complaint of a theft from the 300 block of Nutmeg Street in Beacon Hill. The victim had numerous fishing items stolen from his garage. An estimated $6,450 of fishing gear was stolen. Investigator L. Dickey continues to investigate the case. On Saturday, Feb. 15, Deputy M. Layfield served a warrant on Charles E. Kinney (39) at the Gulf County Detention Facility. Kinney turned himself in. He was wanted for Violation of Probation – Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, Deputy P. Williams conducted a traffic stop on West Church Avenue in Wewahitchka. He observed the driver, Dustin T. Priest (26), operating the vehicle and knew his license was revoked. Priest was arrested and transported to the Gulf County Detention Facility for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked.
