Literacy Week at WHS

By Taylor Hill

Starting Monday, Jan. 23 and ending this Friday, students of Wewahitchka High School will be celebrating literacy during Florida’s Literacy Week!

A.T.I (All That Ink) is sponsoring the events for the second year of fun learning. This year’s theme is “Take the Lead and Read.”

The events will include a theme for each day with the option of dressing up, such as Comfy clothes day, Daytona 500 (wear NASCAR stuff), Character day, Funky Socks day, and on Friday students get to wear a hat after paying $1 and then making note of their favorite book on top of the hat.

The week also holds a door decorating contest that was judged Wednesday, Jan. 25.

All special events will be held in “the Room of Requirement” or Room 20, during senior high lunch.

We will have many guest speakers including our very own Mr. Arrant and local authors Michael Goldcraft, Dana Smith, and Janet Nicolet. Come join the fun and help promote literacy throughout our community.
