Local Resident Needs Liver Transplant

Marsha Whitfield, 52, a long time resident of the Port St. Joe area needs $3,450 to have enough funds to meet the medical co-payment for this operation. Additionally there will be living expenses during the operation and for the recovery period. There are many fund raising events planned to assist the family.

There will be a fish dinner on June 26 at the Frank Pate Park from 11 a.m. until sold out or 2 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the following locations: Assembly of God Church in Oak Grove, People Helping People of Gulf County office, and the First Baptist Church in Port St. Joe. Anyone that would like to purchase a ticket may do so after June 15. There is a special account established at the Superior Bank, in Doris Johnson's name (mother) identified for medical expenses for Marsha Whitfield. Donation jars are also at Duren's Piggly Wiggly and Bluewater Outrigger.

The People Helping People have been asked to help in this worthy effort to help one of our own. Please call Jerry Stokoe or Erika White at 229-5262. We are asking the community to lend their financial support for events planned in their churches. Additional events will be announced in the next edition of the STAR.
