A promise kept

Marshall Nelson made a promise to his son, Bryce, three years ago after Bryce tragically passed in an automobile accident.

Marshall pledged to his son that he would get the Mustang the two were working on when Bryce passed back in running shape so that Bryce could hear the rebuilt motor roar.

“I am going to take it by and let Bryce hear it run,” Marshall said. “I built it in his memory.”

Shortly before his passing, Bryce had gotten into Mustangs.

“All of his friends were getting into Mustangs and he bought one with a blown-out motor,” Marshall said.

Bryce had never tackled such a project as rebuilding a motor before but even after inspection of the body revealed it wasn’t much worth saving, either, Bryce was undaunted, Marshall said.

“I told Bryce let’s get rid of everything and start over,” Marshall said. “But he said, ‘No daddy, I want to hear it run.’”
