It’s a busy time in Gulf County and as we creep toward summer and the temperature rises, residents will be looking for a reason to get outdoors. We’ve compiled eight great upcoming events for consideration.

The Great Plein Air Paint-Out is in full effect for a few more days. Head over to the Mexico Beach Welcome Center on Thursday for an art demonstration with a meet and greet to follow.

On Friday, stop by the Wetroom on Reid Avenue at 2 p.m. for the “Art as a Window” roundtable discussion with professional Plein Air artists. They’ll discuss how they see the world, interpret it and bring it to a canvas for others to see.

“The artists say that we have the best Plein Air in the country,” reminded Forgotten Coast Cultural Coalition Vice President Natalie Shoaf.

The eleventh annual Kids Win Fishing Tournament will take place this weekend. Fishing rod pickup, casting classes and a rules meeting will be held on May 10 and the tournament kicks off bright and early the following morning at 7 a.m ET. Get your little one registered for some free fishing fun!

To close out the Plein Air festivities, the Grand Patron’s Party will take place at the Wetroom on Friday at 6 p.m. ET. Meet the artists, view the paintings from the event and even purchase a canvas that moves you. The winner of the Artist’s Choice award will also be revealed. Tickets for the event are $40.

After your time in the Wetroom, head over to George Core Park to experience some auditory awesomeness at the Music through the Years Music Festival. Tickets are $10 and the money will go toward the Centennial Celebration starting in June. Enjoy live tunes from The Villagers, Go Big or Go Home, The Boyer Band and many more. Music starts at 3 p.m. ET and goes until 11. Advance tickets are on sale at Boyer Signs, Sunset Coastal Grill, St. Joe Music Company and at the park gates.
