Gulf County primary election voting results

Voting in the Gulf County primary elections ended at 7 p.m. ET tonight.

Up for vote were seats on the Gulf County Board of County Commissioners and Gulf County School Board.

In the election for the District 4 county commission seat, Sandy E. Quinn, Jr. received 353 (57.31 percent) of the vote over incumbent Tan Smiley who received 258 votes (41.88 percent).

In the race for the District 2 Gulf County School Board seat to replace George Cox who announced his retirement this year, Brooke Wooten brought in 276 votes (49.82 percent) and James Taunton received 274 votes (49.46 percent).

According to Supervisor of Elections John Hanlon, the race for the school board seat would have an automatic recount due having less than a 5 percent difference. The recount would take place in 3-5 days from the election.
