The Mexico Beach City Council will remain unchanged after Tuesday night’s municipal election.

Group 2 incumbent Lanny Howell faced off against Jeff Tendler and kept his seat, receiving 253 votes to Tendler’s 223.

In Group 3, Jack Mullen defeated Mary Blackburn with 251 votes to her 229.

Tendler and Blackburn, who formed an alliance and built a platform for change and reform within the council, campaigned alongside one another in the months leading up to the election.

Howell and Mullen noted their experience to solidify their wins.

According to the Supervisors of Elections, more than 40 percent of Mexico Beach’s registered voters headed to the polls.
