Kennedy added that he was a champion of public service and his intention remained to be engaged in his community, just not an elected a capacity.

“I think community service is huge and I will continue to do that,” Kennedy said, adding that he would be available for consult for the Commission or individual commissioners.

But, he said, two years in office was enough to indicate he was not cut out for the roll.

“I think you’ve done a great job for the city,” said Commissioner Rex Buzzett, echoing the words of other commissioners who wondered if Kennedy might be open to rethinking his position.

Patterson said, “My skin to so thick you could fry it” while announcing that he would stand for re-election toi the Group II seat.

“I have enjoyed that last two years and I look forward, hopefully, to two more years,” Patterson said.

Mayor Mel Magidson announced earlier this month that he would be seeking re-election to the remaining seat in play this year, that of Mayor/Commissioner.
