Churches to honor Dr. King

In remembrance of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., annual celebration, we are asking all churches to honor him at their regular Wednesday night prayer service on Jan. 15 in which this year 2014 will be on his birthday.

Following his traditional birthday celebration, our annual program will be held on Monday, Jan. 20 honoring the national holiday.

The program will be held 6 p.m. ET at New Bethel A.M.E.  We welcome everyone again this year to participate in the skit “Let No Man Pull You Down.”  This is a play of bi-racial characters coming together, working in unity, and honoring the legacy and life of Dr. King.  It summarizes the Montgomery Bus Ride Trip.

Tentatively, a clean-up day is schedule for the “MLK Blvd., Street Clean-up” at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20.  We encourage the community to join with us on a day of cleaning and not a day off in an effort to clean-up the community.
