North Florida Child Development, Inc., Cathey Construction, and Clemons, Rutherford, and Associates hosted a community Hard Hat Walk-Thru on Oct. 25 at the construction site of the new Early Childhood and Family Learning Center located at 173 Field of Dreams Ave.
The event was well attended by the community business leaders. The center construction is progressing very quickly and is scheduled for completion in December 2012. The guests were surprised about the size of the building and classrooms.
Sharon Gaskin thanked USDA Rural Development, Centennial Bank, Preble-Rish, Cathey Construction, Clemons Rutherford & Associates and the City of Port St. Joe. Thanks was also given to those very special people who play such a key role in any nonprofit organization, the NFCD, Inc. Board of Directors and Chairman of the Board, Mr. Damon McNair, for helping make the dream a reality.
“This is a five million dollar project with multi-funding sources,” Gaskin said. “It has been a challenge but it is finally coming to life."
The center will open and classes will start in January 2013. Gaskin said she is looking forward to the Grand Opening and welcoming the community.
