Port St. Joe Elementary School welcomed the holiday season through the majesty of song last Friday.

During a Christmas concert students in the 21st Century After-School program performed holiday favorites for their peers and parents.

The music was conducted by Becky Hare and students sang renditions of Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is coming to Town, Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer.

Several students also gave a reading of the popular holiday poem, “’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

“Music is a very big help to kids in school and every area of life,” said Hare. “It even helps academically.”

Paper ornaments, fingerprint snowmen and elf legs crafted by the students covered the stage to set the holiday mood.

A paper Christmas tree was a collaboration of all classes involved. Art direction was provided by teacher Julie Hodges.
