River basin areas of county at risk for floods

Gulf County Emergency Management is notifying residents and property owners in the river basin areas of Gulf County that they should continue to monitor the river forecast for flood conditions impact.

At 22 feet minor lowland flooding will occur on many roads including Byrd Parker Road, Warmouth Drive, Gaskin Park, the end of Lake Grove Road, Elm Street on Red Bull Island and lower landing on Howard Creek.

Precautionary/preparedness actions: all persons along the river that are affected by the 22 foot reading at Blountstown should begin to take preparedness measures. Items on the property that can be washed away or damaged by flood waters should be removed and LP gas tanks should be secured. Residents should continue to monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take additional action if necessary to protect life and property.

Do not drive cars through flooded areas. If you see flood waters, remember to turn around and do not drown.
