Back by popular demand – the winter edition of a farmer’s market.
The Salt-Air Farmer’s Market will be returning from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET on the first and third weekends for the months of January through March.
The first date for the market will be this Saturday, Jan. 18.
As always, the market will be held in City Commons Park next to City Hall.
“We had some people asking us why we weren’t running in the winter,” said market organizer John Parker. “People still wanted fresh produce and the farmers are still willing to come down.”
Parker said that several of the participating vendors grow produce in greenhouses, allowing for fresh foods even in the winter.
The Panama City Farmer’s Market runs year-round and Parker wanted to get in line with other area markets. He said that if successful, they’d open for the winter again next year.
“We were missing an opportunity by not offering the market to the snowbirds,” said Parker.
Those interested in setting up a tent or providing entertainment can contact Parker at 404-906-2637. Vendors must provide a tent, table and chairs. The fee is $10.
