They will be telling tales this weekend at the Gulf Franklin campus of Gulf Coast State College.

The second annual Shells & Tales event brings the magic of storytelling March 8-9.

The event gets underway 4 p.m. ET Friday when Panama City humorist Pat Nease and Tallahassee’s Robyn A. Rennick will host a workshop Friday to cover storytelling basics.

The course in public speaking is meant to remind attendees that everyone has a story to tell and provide the basic skills to help take theirs to the next level.

On Saturday a 6 p.m. ET cheese-and-wine event will be held to feature local storytellers and live music.

Nease’s journey to become what she refers to as a “professional liar” started in her youth when she told silly stories to her younger brother.

From there Nease went onto teaching and found stories to be an amazing way to develop comprehension in the classroom.
