‘Our favorite party'

With no snow available for a real snowball fight, Wewahitchka Pre-K students opted for something softer and sweeter on Jan. 13 during the class's annual marshmallow snowball fight.

Each student from Darlene Ake's class clutched their own bag of jumbo marshmallows on Friday morning as they marched single-file out to the field in front of the classroom where they joined hands and waited for Ake to throw the first marshmallow.

Once the first marshmallow was launched, within seconds the field was blanketed with specks of white as the 4-5-year-old students sent jet-puffed rockets flying in every direction.

Some of the marshmallows were donated by the Piggly Wiggly, while others were provided by parents.

"It’s our favorite party," said Ake who has hosted the snowball fight for 13 years. "It's just so much fun."
