PSJE School Odyssey of the Mind Team Places First in the Emerald Coast Regional Tournament

Port St. Joe Elementary School Odyssey of the Mind Team earned first place in the Emerald Coast Odyssey of the Mind Regional Tournament.  They competed against 8 other teams in their division. 

The PSJES OM team competed in Division I, Problem 5-Food Court.  They were challenged with creating a humorous 8-minute performance where a food item is accused of being unhealthy and must defend itself among its food peers.  Their problem solution was creative and entertaining.  The team also competed in the spontaneous competition where team members challenged to “think on their feet” as they are presented with an off-the-cuff problem to solve.

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem solving competition that allows students to tap into creativity, and encourages imaginative paths to problem-solving.  Students learn skills that will provide them with the ability to solve problems -- great and small -- for a lifetime.

The PSJES OM Team will be traveling to Orlando on April 10, 2010 to compete in the state tournament.
