By The ENC1101 Fall 2010 Class

SENIORS

--The first senior dues payment will be $60 and will be due by the end of September. Dues go to Mrs. Alcorn.

JUNIORS

--Junior Executive Board is beginning to decide what to do for prom with the extremely small budget available.

SGA

--The Student Government will have their first full-council meeting on Monday, Aug. 30 in the library during lunch.

NJROTC

--ROTC Drill Team will be having practice every morning at 7 a.m. and on Monday’s and Wednesday’s after school until 4 p.m.

--The ROTC will be painting the gazebos in the cemeteries on Saturday, Aug. 28.

--We are excited to have 23 new cadets this year bringing our total number to 41. This means we are no longer on probation because of not having enough cadets.

CLUBS

Key & Keyettes

--Keyette’s sign-up sheets are in the office and will remain there until Aug. 31; application forms are due one week later. The initiation for the new members is set to occur during the week of Sept. 13-17. See Ms. McGhee.

--Key Club sign-up sheets are available as well; see Mr. Flowers for forms and information. Both the Keyette’s and Key Club have started their weekly Wednesday meetings. Members don’t forget your dress up day on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

-- Mu Alpha Theta (math club) is a relatively new club at Port St. Joe High School. As an “educational” club, it has had a surprisingly large turnout. Our first (all members) meeting is Thursday, August 26th during lunch. All high school students are welcome to come. If you are interested, see Mrs. Etheridge.

 -- National Honor Society: This club inducts students who keep a specific GPA throughout high school, and who keep out of trouble. As a school/community based club, we are open to all suggestions concerning service projects, helpful fundraisers, and any other ideas you may have. NHS’s monthly meetings have begun. The next meeting will be on Sept. 21 for all members.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA)

--Prayer Monday through Friday every week from 7:15-7:45 a.m. in the student activity room; everyone is welcome to attend.

--See you at the Pole Rally on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Oak Grove Assembly of God. Time is to be announced (TBA).

--See you at the Pole is on Wednesday, Sept. 22, from 7-7:45 a.m. in front of Port St. Joe High School around the flag pole. Everyone is welcome!

YEARBOOK

--2010-2011 yearbooks will be $40 until Aug. 30. After Aug. 30 book prices will increase as the year goes on. Don’t delay, buy your yearbook today.

--2009-2010 yearbooks were able to be picked up Aug. 20. If you are a graduated senior and you haven’t picked up a yearbook, contact the school to find out when you may pick it up.

General Sports News

--PSJ Boys golf practice started. See Mr. Belin for further information.

--Tonight Tiger Shark football will kick off the season with the annual Jamboree which will take place at Bozeman. The football team will play Bozeman and Arnold, with the first game taking place at 7 p.m. EDT. There will be a pep rally for the football game at the high school starting around 2:40 p.m. EDT.

--On Sept. 3 there is another football game against Bay High at 7:30 p.m. EDT. The game will be at home.

--Girls’ volleyball tryouts are over and their first game is on Sept. 2 against Arnold with the JV at 6 p.m. EDT and the varsity at 7 p.m.

GENERAL INFORMATION

--Gold Cards were issued Aug. 17. If you earned one and haven’t gotten it yet, please do so.

-- Marching band practice is every day after school until five o’clock.

--The next ACT testing date at PSJHS is Sept. 11. See Ms. Bernal for further information on upcoming testing availability.
