Over 100 Paintings Hung in Plein Air Wet Room
Vince Bishop, guardian of the 2008 Plein Air wet room at the Cotton Exchange, said plein air painters have already been very busy this year.
On Monday, there were already 115 paintings on display, 65 of which were painted this year.
Artists who painted in last year's Paint Out were allowed to bring several pieces from last year to hand in, and each was allowed to display a single studio piece produced from a plein air study done along the Forgotten Coast.
The visiting artists have recorded scenes as diverse as Dead Lakes, Cape San Blas and Scipio Creek.
Two paintings, by Scott Powers of Chicago, and by Charles Dickenson of St. Augustine, sold during the Gala Reveal at the wet room on Saturday evening. Works by Dickenson and partner Debbie Boone are currently on display at the Apalachicola Art Museum in an exhibit called Visions and Voices.
