Junior Service League Gala Saturday

The Junior Service League of Port St Joe will be hosting its annual Mardi Gras Gala on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Building in Port St. Joe.  It is a night of New Orleans’ fun, live music, silent auction, raffle, portraits, caricatures, food, and lots of beads.

While the theme of the night is revelry, it is also a time to raise money for the Junior Service League’s community projects.  The Gala is the League’s primary fundraiser, the proceeds going toward school supplies for elementary students, winter clothes for local children, Junior Miss Program, scholarships for graduating seniors and the community Easter Egg Hunt.  In order to raise the money for these projects the Gala will include not only a silent auction, featuring vacations across the Southeast, but also several raffles of big ticket items divided into his and her favorites.  For example, men can look forward to a fishing package, and women a “Company’s Coming” extravaganza including all of the services needed when family or friends come for a visit.

Amanda’s Bistro is catering the event with a mix of low-country cuisine.  In a change from previous years, the meal will be served in courses, with the recipes for the hors d'oeuvres and desserts from the Junior Service League cookbook, Thyme in Port: Celebrating Florida’s Constitution City.  The main course will be a medley of New Orleans’ favorites, including jambalaya, etouffee and a po-boy station.

Tickets are $30 per person or $50 for a couple.  A table with 10 tickets is available for $250.  Dress is black-tie optional; though there will be lots of sequins!  For more information or tickets, please contact Jessica Paterson at jp@lemongrassinteriors.com or (850) 227-4183.
