Just Boo It
Port St. Joe's Ghosts on the Coast celebration highlights the area's rundown of Halloween activities.
Ghosts on the Coast will be held from 6-8 p.m. in downtown Port St. Joe, beginning with a costume contest for ages birth through 12 years old.
Costume clad youngsters will line up in front of the Chamber of Commerce building, located at 101 Reid Avenue.
Merchants along Reid will be passing out candy throughout the event, and Family Life Church, 323 Reid, will offer refreshments, drinks, coffee and use of its bathroom facilities.
The Gulf Alliance for Local Artists (GALA) will present its first St. Joe Children's Theater production, "The Headless Horseman Rides Again" at the City Commons Park, located at the corner of Reid Ave. and Hwy. 71.
There will be three showings of the play, at 6, 6:45 and 7:30 p.m., and admission is free to the public.
Other events include a duck pond and fishing booth, storyteller Pat Nease telling tales at Panache, photo opportunities, a Spooky Book Signing at Palm Tree Books with author Nicole Carlson Easley and a fire truck display and calendar sale presented by the South Gulf County Volunteer Fire Department.
Sheriff’s Haunted House
The fun continues on the north end of the county, with the Gulf County Sheriff's Office hosting a haunted house from dark until 10 p.m. CT at Rocky Comforter's funeral home.
The funeral home is located on Hwy. 71, just passed the feed store.
Kinard Halloween Carnival
The Kinard Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Kinard Halloween Carnival on Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. at the Kinard community building off of Hwy. 73 South.
The costume contest starts around 6 p.m. Other festivities include a $500 cash drawing, door prizes, cake walk and auction, haunted 4-wheeler rides, pony rides, food and many booths filled with games and prizes.
All proceeds benefit the Kinard Volunteer Fire Department. For more information, call 850-639-5011.
