Walter Herman Roberson obituary
Walter Herman Roberson of Port St. Joe, passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at a local hospital.
He was born May 13, 1929 to the late Herman and Leila Roberson in Luverne, AL. He was previously a member of the Masonic Lodge in Montgomery, AL before moving to Port St. Joe in 1967 where he later became a member of Long Avenue Baptist Church. He served his country during the Korean Conflict with the United States Army. He was a local business owner and operator of Roberson's Grocery and Highland View Motors, Inc.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Clair Roberson of Port St. Joe, FL; two sons, Ralph C. Roberson (Margaret) of Port St. Joe, FL; Walter Kevin Roberson (Cheryl) of Oveido, FL; two daughters, Selina Roberson Waller (Bill) of Lynn Haven, FL, Tamara Lynn Barnes of Lynn Haven; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Louis Bogliola (June) of Luvern, AL; three sisters, Mary Lee Mardis of Millbrook, AL, Mabelene Roberson of Ozark, AL, and Carrie Martin of Pensacola, FL.
Services were held 11 a.m. ET on Friday, March 12, 2010 at Long Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Royce C. Williams, Jr. officiating with interment following in Holly Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandchildren, Chris Roberson, Matt Roberson, Lee Waller, Blake Barnes, Brett Barnes, Nancy-Clair Roberson, Karen Waller.
The family received friends Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. ET at the church.
In lieu of flowers those who wish may make contributions to Long Avenue Baptist Church in memory of Walter Roberson.
