Bridges students from Gulf County schools held their annual Field Day event in the Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School gymnasium last Friday.
The field day consisted of fun, physical activities including the torch run, where students balanced a ball atop a toilet plunger while running, basketball, a cart race, football toss and pinball, which required players to bowl a ball into a standing pin.
The games helped the students stay active and tightened the bond between fellow students and friend’s.
The audience, teachers, and staff had smiles on their faces, as did Gulf County Superintendent of Schools Jim Norton as he watched over the events.
“This is what it’s all about,” Norton said.
Festivities were hosted by physical education teacher Stuart Vines and the students were cheered on by not only their peers, but their friends, family, the Wewahitchka Gator mascots and members of the cheerleading team.
The event closed with an awards ceremony where each student received a medal for their participation. Students were then treated to a picnic lunch at nearby Honeyville Park.
