A new Correctional Officer program will be starting at the Gulf/Franklin Campus of Gulf Coast State College in Port St. Joe, on Aug. 25.  The purpose of this program is to prepare students for employment as correctional officers. The program includes the basic standards courses mandated for certification as a correctional officer in the state of Florida. Students who graduate from this program would typically work as correctional officers within a county or state correctional facility. Upon completion of this program, students are eligible to take the State Officer Certification Exam for correctional officers.  The program will be conducted using the new shorter curriculum and will meet Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. ET for approximately three months.
