Future farmers of Wewahitchka

Mr. Brown’s class at Wewahitchka Elementary School has been busy preparing its two gardens for the fall crops. On Sept. 24, the class planted over 270 plants. Their crops consist of collards, cabbage, broccoli, and sweet onions. What makes this year’s gardens special is that all the plants were donated by Sandi’s Feed & Seed in Lynn Haven.

Over the past several years, Ms. Sandi has been a dedicated supporter of the garden and anything associated with it. Mr. Danny Little (school board member) has also been someone the class could count on for garden supplies, such as additional fill dirt and compost. This special group of future farmers of Wewahitchka is fortunate to have the support that Ms. Sandi and Mr. Little provide.

The gardens are part of a behavior modification program within the classroom. If the students behave and get their work done inside of the classroom, they get to work in the “garden classroom” outside. Recently, everyone has been able to do their part in getting the fall crops in. Please feel free to stop by and meet a group of children that aren’t afraid of hard work.
