Fifteen adults and school board member Linda Wood will also make the trek to NYC. For added safety, the group will have its own security detail.

For Hodges, who has made numerous trips to the Big Apple, her excitement stems from sharing the experience with her students.

“I’m more excited about seeing their reactions,” said Hodges. “That’s the perk of having been there a few times.”

Hodges hopes that there will be another trip next year, but she’s unsure of the destination. She said that in a perfect world, she’d love to take students overseas.

“I’m a hands-on teacher,” said Hodges. “If I can drop a bunch of kids from a small town into a big city and expose them to art, culture and theatre, I will.

“I want them to see what’s out there.”
