Port St. Joe Elementary School’s annual science fair was held on Nov. 27.  Each class in grades K-4 displayed a science fair exhibit in the hallways and outside classrooms, and grades 5-6 projects were on display in the gym and also in the fifth-grade science lab.  The projects were constructed according to the proper implementation of the scientific method and the students demonstrated a wide variety of ideas and creativity.  Fifth- and sixth-grade projects were judged and first-, second-, and third-place winners received medallions, while honorable mentions were awarded ribbons.   The judges were very impressed with the students’ work.

The teachers would like to thank the judges and also the parents who help to make the science fair a success every year!  Any time a parent is working with a child toward a common goal, it’s a good thing!

Fifth-grade winners were: First place-Hagan Parrish (Plants and Water); second place- Hannah Smith (Raising the Temp); third place- Caroline Sapp (Which Polish Will Fail Your Nails?)

Sixth-grade winners were: first place- Christian Alcorn (Flammability); second place- Hannah Fulk (Rainbow of Plant Growth); third place-Hannah Anderson (The Effect of Caffeine on Plant Growth)

Honorable Mentions went to Sara Whitfield, Madison Taylor, Heath Plair, Jade Cothran, Sean Farnsley, Brandon Barnes, DJ Davis, Jacob Kennedy, Lilia Pangan, Hannah Simpson, Canaan Goddin, Jacob Tracy, Cameron Dorman, Cameron Harmon, Joel Bogaert, and Corbin Grogan.
