Wewa Sophomore accepted into two summer institutes

Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School sophomore Samantha Hoover has been accepted into two prestigious summer institutes for students preparing for a career in the medical/science fields.

The University of Florida Immersion into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) experience is a five-day, residential experience for upcoming high school juniors. Students will interact with University of Florida faculty and staff in multiple disciplines and laboratory settings, while witnessing first-hand various research and STEM career opportunities.

The Florida State University College of Medicine SStride Summer Institute is a one-week residential program on the Tallahassee campus. The program is designed for students who are pursuing a career in the field of medicine. The institute motivates students to excel academically and introduces them to a variety of clinical settings. Standardized test preparation for the ACT and SAT is also provided, and students are exposed to various aspects of the medical school curriculum through face-to-face interactions with faculty and staff.
