Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf Introduces Outpatient Infusion Services

PORT ST. JOE, Fla. – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf is pleased to announce the recent addition of outpatient infusion services, which is the delivery of medications or fluids intravenously (IV). When prescribed by your physician, IV therapy can be one of the fastest ways to deliver fluids and medications throughout the body.

“Our outpatient infusion services have been designed with our patients’ needs in mind,” said Laney Kennedy, manager of the IV Therapy Department. “From appointments scheduled at your convenience, to comfortable, private therapy rooms, and access to soothing music or the television for entertainment, our goal is to exceed our patients’ expectations.”

Sacred Heart now offers a variety of infusion services, including antibiotic therapy, hydration therapy, injection services, medication infusions, blood transfusions, port care, and dressing changes. All of the infusion services are provided by registered nurses who are trained in IV therapy. Services are available seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A physician’s order is required.

“Patients used to have to travel to Panama City to receive infusion services, which would take up at least half the day and was very taxing on the caregiver,” said Kennedy. “It is our privilege to offer these services closer to home now.”

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf is a 25-bed hospital that opened its doors to patient care on March 15. The new hospital features 24-hour emergency services, inpatient services, surgical services, a full complement of diagnostic and laboratory services, and a helipad to be used by Sacred Heart's regional air ambulance service to provide rapid transport for trauma or critically ill patients.
