As the soccer season winds down toward the playoffs, the Port St. Joe girls and boys each savored success and setbacks the past week.

For the Lady Tiger Sharks, a nine-game string of undefeated play ended with a 5-1 loss to South Walton, which followed a win over Marianna and a tie with Rutherford.

The girls, who had not lost since Nov. 21, are now 7-3-3 overall, and seeded second in the district tournament which began Monday.

The girls faced West Gadsden at 8 p.m. ET at Tallahassee Maclay in the opening round of the district tournament. The semifinals were Wednesday and the final is scheduled for Friday.

The boys, now 4-8-1, beat South Walton 2-1 to snap a losing streak. The boys hosted Wakulla Tuesday and host Tallahassee Godby tonight, before beginning district tournament play next week as the number six seed.

The Tiger Sharks will open tournament play against third-seeded West Gadsden.
