The annual Port St. Joe Dixie Youth Baseball League’s Day of Baseball will be held this Saturday beginning at 8:45 a.m. ET. This is an all-day fun event and the entire community is invited to attend. Ten baseball games will be played in one day on the fields between Eighth and Tenth Streets. Opening ceremonies start at 8:45 a.m. and the first pitches are scheduled for 9 a.m. The concession stand will be open all day so folks can stay through lunch.
This year the league has about 150 kids registered on 13 different teams ranging from age 6 up to age 12.
Mary Lou Cumbie will sing the national anthem and Dr. Geoffrey Lentz will open with prayer from the FUMC.
On the same day, the Boy Scouts will take advantage of the already assembled crowd and will conduct a food drive. So please hit the pantry before you come to the fields and collect any non-perishable goods you may have. The food can be dropped off at the concession stand or any other marked location in the park.
