District in search of football coaches

Because Gannon will not be around in the fall, Norton said he would like to have a new coach in place by the start of spring football in May.

He said he is likely to bring the matter to the School Board to begin advertising the Port St. Joe position next month with the hope that after the application/interviewing process a new coach could be in place for the 18 days of spring practice.

“We have to go through the entire process,” Norton said. “We will need to advertise and of course keep the union informed before we post any opening. This will likely be brought up at the next school board meeting.”

Time is less of an issue in Wewahitchka, Norton said, because Kizziah will be in place through the next school year.

Norton said he would hope to post the job opening and undertake the interviewing with the goal of having a new coach in place this summer and ready to start practice in the fall.
