In a warm-up game for the Super Bowl game scheduled for this Saturday, the Gene Raffield Football League Port St. Joe Dolphins and Jaguars traveled to Franklin County to meet the Seahawks.

To set the tone for the game the Jaguar defense ran an all-out blitz on the Seahawks first play from scrimmage, knocking them for a six-yard loss.

After a Franklin County punt, Jasmine Thomas went off tackle 47 yards to the Seahawk 8.  On the next play he scored the first Jaguar touchdown.  Bryce Register, making a spin move, ran in the apparent two-point conversion but a flag set the ball back to the 13. Register then passed to Ethan “Freight Train” Lafontaine for the successful conversion.

The Jags scored again after a 25-yard sweep by Roman Harrison.  Lafontaine scampered the 38 yards remaining to the end zone.  Register converted the 2-points on a crunch play.

With 5:37 left in the first half, the Jaguars made the game’s final score 24-0 when Thomas took the ball 60 yards as he burst up the middle, broke a tackle and outran the Seahawk defense.  Lafontaine ran over a Franklin County defender at the goal line for the extra two points.

The rest of the game was a defensive battle with the Jags substituting freely.

In the first quarter of the Dolphin’s game, it looked like the Seahawks might give Port St. Joe a difficult day.  After the Dolphins had gone up 8-0 the Seahawks drove down the field for a touchdown and 8-6 score.
