Girls sweep, boys split district soccer matches

The Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School soccer programs each played two district matches last week with divergent results.

The Lady Tiger Sharks routed West Gadsden and beat Tallahassee John Paul II while the boys lost to the Panthers and beat John Paul II.

The girls are now 5-2-1 overall and 3-1-1 in District 1-1A.

The boys are 3-4-1 overall, 1-3-1 in district play.

The host Lady Tiger Sharks had their highest offensive output since their season-opener last Wednesday as they beat West Gadsden 8-0 under the mercy rule.

Coach Gary Hindley said liberal substitution allowed all 16 players who dressed to play, “To gain valuable minutes of playing time.”
