The Wewahitchka Jr./Sr. High School softball team’s season came to a halt Monday night in the regional finals when the Lady Gators fell at Sneads 5-4.
The Lady Gators (21-7), were down 4-1 in the top of the seventh before rallying for three runs to tie the game.
Sneads clinched the win with a single run in the bottom of the seventh.
Ashley Price started and pitched five innings for Wewahitchka, allowing three runs and suffering the loss. Brianna Bailey finished up, striking out two and allowing two runs on five hits.
Naomi Parker had two hits and scored twice, Tara Walding had a hit and drove in a run and Mariah Brown and Alexis Brinkmeier each had a single.
The Lady Gators reached the region final with a 7-1 semifinal win over Ponce de Leon.
Price, Bailey and Parker combined to pitch seven complete innings, combining to allow just two hits, one unearned run while striking out four.
Price earned the win.
Walding was 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple, double and single, driving in four runs and scoring three to lead the Lady Gator attack.
Brown doubled and drove in a run while scoring a run. Price had a pair of hits and drove in two and Brinkmeier was 2 for 3 and scored a run.
Parker and Cecily Hale had singles.
