After four trips to Tallahassee and three games over a five-day period, the Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School girls lost in the District 1-1A championship game to host Maclay.

“They are a fast and talented team,” said Port St. Joe coach Gary Hindley.

Maclay won 4-1 and sent Port St. Joe (9-4-3) out on the road again for tonight’s regional playoff match at Orange Park.

Maclay scored three unanswered goals in the first half to take command of the game. The Lady Tiger Sharks got on the scoreboard when senior midfielder Christian Laine scored off a Brittany Shoemaker corner kick early in the second half.

Cat Robles put in another tally but was whistled for a foul just before scoring, wiping out the goal.

Maclay scored with 15 minutes remaining to complete the scoring.

Maclay outshot Port St. Joe 20-4. Celeste Chiles, in goal for the Lady Tiger Sharks, had nine saves.
