After a week stepping up in class the Lady Tiger Sharks of Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School prepped for this week’s District 2-1A tournament.

Port St. Joe, which finished 13-11 overall and 8-4 in district play, earned the number three seed in the district tournament and played sixth-seeded West Gadsden Tuesday night at South Walton High School.

If the Lady Tiger Sharks prevail, they would meet the Blountstown-Bozeman winner at 8 p.m. ET on Friday in the district semifinals. A win would guarantee a spot in the region playoffs and would advance Port St. Joe to the district title game scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.

The Lady Tiger Sharks played larger schools in the final week of the regular season and split four games.

On Jan. 22 Port St. Joe traveled to Wakulla. The Lady Tiger Sharks jumped to a 11-4 lead after one quarter but by halftime it was 18-16 Port St. Joe.

The Lady Tiger Sharks held a 30-26 lead after three periods but Wakulla took control in the final quarter for a 44-40 win.

Maya Robbins led Port St. Joe with 15 points, Callie Fleshren added eight and Hallie Jasinski five. Alyssa Parker, Shannon Pridgeon, and Brooklyn Quinn each scored four points.
