With a new high school football season about to begin, the Shark 100 Club is pulling out the dough on behalf of Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High School athletics.

The 100 in its name could designate the thousands of dollars the Shark 100 Club has contributed to support athletic programs at Port St. Joe Jr./Sr. High.

As it prepares for its 27th year, the club has donated to date nearly $125,000 since 1986 to Tiger Shark athletics.

“They have had a tremendous impact,” said Port St. Joe football coach and athletic director Chuck Gannon said. “It’s very helpful. It is a good collaboration, people working together for the benefit of the kids.

“We appreciate everything the Shark 100 Club does for us.”

The Shark 100 Club is off to a great start this year, club president Willie Ramsey said. With some newcomers joining, the Club ranks are growing, with nearly two dozen signed up early.

“It always amazes me the support we get,” Ramsey said. “It’s all about the kids.
