“We played good defense,” Kurnitsky said. “It was a good win, one in the district and one on the road.

“Against West Gadsden, not so good.”

The Panthers jumped out on the host Tiger Sharks early, building a 33-22 lead by halftime and stretching the margin to 12 after three quarters and winning 56-38.

Port St. Joe, Kurnitsky said, did a poor job of controlling the ball and played to the Panthers strength with double digits in turnovers.

Marcel Johnson led Port St. Joe with 10 points. Calloway had nine, Williams seven, Quinn six, Zacarro four and Marquez Johnson two.

The Tiger Sharks traveled to Wewahitchka on Tuesday, play at Franklin County on Friday and host Bay High beginning at 6 p.m. ET on Saturday with junior varsity action.
