~Coach Gary Hindley reaches 400 wins~

Port St. Joe High School soccer teams blasted Freeport and handled Rocky Bayou last week as the boys remained unbeaten and Coach Gary Hindley reached 400 wins in his coaching career.

The girls and boys each had little trouble with District 1-1A rival Freeport on Friday night, as the host Lady Tiger Sharks won 8-0 and the boys won 6-2.

The Lady Tiger Sharks, 4-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in District 1-1A play scored four goals in each half to easily whip Freeport.

Freshman forward Kathleen Rish scored a hat trick with three goals and junior Lexie McGhee added two goals (giving her four for the year) to spark the Port St. Joe offense. Allie Striplling scored her first goal of the year and Freeport had two "own" goals. Brittany Shoemaker (her third) and sophomore midfielder Hayley Wood (with two giving her four on the season) added assists.

Port St. Joe outshot Freeport 40-6. Junior Christian Laine started in goal and had one save in 20 minutes to earn the win. Eighth-grader Rebecca Kerigan saw 35 minutes making one save, and seventh-grader Celeste Childs had 12 minutes and also recorded one save.

The Tiger Sharks, 5-0-0 overall, 3-0-0 in the district), were led by senior defender Javarri Beachum and sophomore Marcel Duarte, who each had two goals. Junior Drew Lacour (his second) and Sawyer Raffield (first) also had goals. Duarte added two assist and Beachum one. The Tiger Sharks outshot Freeport 30-10.

First year senior goalkeeper Tucker Smith, 4-0 on the year, had seven saves.
