Panama City Artist Brings Show to The Tupelo Theatre
The multi-talented artist and operator of The Gallery Above in downtown Panama City, Heather Clements will bring her new art exhibit to The Tupelo Theatre beginning Saturday, September 13th with a opening reception at 7:00 p.m. (CDT).
Octopus's Garden: The Art of Heather Clements will feature the artist's work from the past several years, as well as feature her brand new Octopus series, which inspired the title of the show.
The title Octopus Garden comes from a song written by Ringo Starr. The idea for the song came about when Starr was on a boating trip with his family in Sardinia in 1968. He was offered an octopus lunch, but turned it down. Then the boat's captain told Starr about how octopuses travel along the sea bed picking up stones and shiny objects with which to build gardens.[1] Starr said that hearing about octopuses spending their days collecting shiny objects at the bottom of the sea was one of the happiest things he had ever heard, and inspired him to write the song.
