Voter Drive Ramps Up
In this all important year at the ballot box, Supervisor of Elections Linda Griffin is keeping the full-court press on educating the voting public.
Griffin's office will hold two voter registration drives in the coming weeks to provide an opportunity for those not already on the rolls to get on there before the general election arrives on Nov. 4.
The first event will be in front of the Piggly Wiggly in Port St. Joe on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon ET.
This will provide people an opportunity to register to vote, change parties or update their voter information, such as address changes and the like.
The second event in this get out the vote effort will be held in front of the Piggly Wiggly on Wednesday, Oct. 1 from 1-4 p.m. ET.
These two voter registration events are just a sampling of the effort Griffin's office puts into engaging voters every election cycle.
Staff members from her office have already been to each of the county's high schools to sign up those seniors who will be of voting age on Nov. 4.
In addition, last week, a voter registration drive was held in front of the IGA store in Wewahitchka for voters on the north end of the county.
Voters should be mindful that the books for the General Election close on Oct. 6, so changes in party and other critical voter information, including registering to vote, can not by law be accommodated after that date.
People with questions or concerns about their voter registration are encouraged to contact Griffin's office at 229-6117. Please do not wait until Election Day.
Dates for early voting as well as information about requesting absentee ballots will be printed at a later date.
