Benton Hamm was born December 5, 1933 and entered heaven on November 22, 2012.
He was a graduate of Sneads High School and attended Chipola College. He was a conductor for 40 years for the A&N Railroad of Port St. Joe. He coached Babe Ruth baseball, women's softball, umpired high school baseball and basketball, men's softball and was a licensed official with the Florida Athletic Association. He was an auxiliary member of the Port St. Joe Fire and Police Departments. For 30 years he was member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Wewahitchka where he sang in the choir, served as deacon, and with his wife Dot worked with Golden Agers.
Benton loved his church family.
He is survived by his wife, Dot; a daughter, Debbie Lindsey (Charles) and a son, Rev. Dr. Richard Hamm (Anita), his precious grandchildren, Casi Lindsey Knowles (Robert), Richie Hamm (Wendy), Brandon Hamm (Ashley), Lindsay Hamm; his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Elijah, Jordan, Ashdon, Nixen, Delainey; his brother, Hinton (Margie), brother-in-law, Liddon Woodard (Lynda); his sisters-in-law, Lavinia Radel, Joyce Deason (Earnest); several nieces and nephews and the world's best neighbors.
Funeral services, officiated by Rev. Richard Hamm and Rev. Joey Smith, were held on Sunday, November 25 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God and a private family graveside service at Roberts Cemetery was held on Monday, November 26.
