Crystal Mapes Lewis, formerly of Port St. Joe, died Friday, April 25 at her home in Tallahassee, Florida.
Crystal was born on July 31, 1948 in Edmore, Michigan. Her parents were James and Martha Mapes, long-time residents of the Port St. Joe area. She was the eldest of their two children.
In 1960, Crystal and her family relocated to Port St. Joe, Florida where she graduated from Port St. Joe High School in 1966. Crystal’s compassionate nature and desire to help others led to her profession as a respiratory therapist. She assisted patients for many years and in many locations including Tampico, Mexico; Panama City, Florida; and Dothan, Alabama. Crystal was a great love of nature and a loyal friend.
Crystal is survived by her sister, Carol Carr of Tallahassee, Florida; half-sister, Diane Spivey of Denver, Colorado; niece, Tiffany Carr of Tallahassee, Florida; and granddaughter, Alex Naus of Mexico Beach, Florida.
The family very much appreciates the love and support from our many friends during this special time.
