On the afternoon of Jan. 18, 2014, at about 3 p.m., when all the world it seemed to us to be weeping, the death angel came and the sweet spirit of Momma accompanied it home to Heaven, after we children and other loving hands had done all they could, the good doctors and nurses had exhausted their medical skills in trying to evade the “pale horse” and his rider, they passed on to the other shore.
There was a higher voice calling and they gently yielded to the call. Passing out of the shadows into the clearer day—why do we call it dying, this sweet going away?
She was the daughter of Lee and Frances Pitts and mother of Kelly, Beverly, Janet and Mike Mount, and grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 12 and great-great-grandmother of one. She leaves one very loving sister Gail and husband Donnie O’Bryan and a number of relatives and friends to mourn her. Her parting will be very sad, we loved her so much. She was always kind and good and never forgot to have a sweet smile and a tender word for everyone.
All that loving hands could not keep her, God needed her in his beautiful garden above. He let her stay with us until he could not spare her longer. And although our hearts are heavy with grief we should console ourselves and look up to Heaven and listen to the glorious host of angels singing. Don’t you think their voices are sweeter because she is there? Indeed Heaven is sweeter since she has joined her daughter and husband whom had gone before her. I know they are all together and are smiling down on us. We trust that her going maybe an inspiration to her loved ones here on earth to look forward to that day when we all will be united around the thrown of God.
