Jane Burroughs Whitfield of Milledgeville, Georgia went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2014 after a ten month battle with lung cancer.
Jane was a resident of Milledgeville since 1999, moving there from Tallahassee, Florida. She resided in Panama City, Florida for 25 years previous to that. She grew up in Dawson, Georgia and was a proud graduate of Florida State University.
She was loved by her family and those who knew her. Her laugh (which often became a snort) was infectious. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville and the Emmaus Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Eva Burroughs of Dawson, Georgia. She is survived by her loving husband, John Michael Whitfield of Milledgeville; daughter Lara Kathleen Moore (Chad); son Clay Allen Whitfield (Kimberly); grandchildren, Hannah, Luke and Ava Moore, and Jacob and Emily Whitfield; and brother, Glenn Burroughs (Amy). She had lots of wonderful nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 5 pm. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 3 to 4:45 at the Church.
The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to cancer research, First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville, or another appropriate charity, in memory of Jane.
