Ruth M. Wright McCormick, 89, of Port St. Joe, died on August 14, 2013 after a short illness. She was born in Charleston, WV and moved to Port St. Joe in 1949. She and her husband, Gene, lived in PSJ until 1966. After living in Indianapolis, IN and Memphis, TN, they returned to FL in 1991. She was an active member of the Beach Baptist Chapel of St. Joe Beach.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Edith Wright; her husband, L.E. Gene McCormick; and a sister, Louise Hall.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia Horst (Henry) of PSJ; one son, David McCormick of Tuttle, OK; four grandchildren, James McCormick (Ann-Marie), and Steven McCormick, all of OK;  and Kelly Whitlatch (Michael), and Michael Horst (Michelle) all of Atlanta, GA; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Megan Whitlatch, Katie , Brian and Lauren Horst, all of Atlanta; and Trevor McCormick of OK; brothers, Roy Wright of Inverness, FL, Robert Wright (Diane) of Wewahitchka, Paul Wright (Becky) of Charleston, WV; sisters, Delores Mamoran (Jesse) of Wewahitchka, Phyllis Hall of Port St. Joe and Sue Ballard (Harold) of Birmingham, AL.

A funeral service was held Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Beach Baptist Chapel or to the charity of your choice.
